Like a cow bound to a turn-table- 1st Part

Everything seemed to be so quiet that morning.

Even the trees looked standing still.

It was as if you were looking into a postcard, but the view in the postcard was not as picturesque as other normal postcards used to be. In fact, not more than an ordinary view.
The house was beautifully painted in blue, shining under the sun rays of an 8 o’clock July morning. The remarkable element about the house was just the varieties of plants and vegetation everywhere in the garden.

(One of the quarters provided by the government of Myanmar for its servants. To be more precise, a quarter allotted to a Project Engineer of a newly established LPG Extraction Plant in Minbu, a town in middle of Myanmar. Especially in July, the weather in that place was the best of the year.)

But there was no sign of the owners of the house.
The interior of the house was impossible to see directly from outside. The greenish colored full-length curtains were covering almost every window.

A possibility to look into the house was in the backyard.

Those three tall drum-stick trees at the backyard of the house.

If one could climb up onto them, he might have a good look into the master-bed room. Then he would see a big double bed and those two also.

Those two on the bed.

On this big double bed, there was nothing else but only two pillows. The two pillows wearing differently designed pillow cases.

Any one could tell the difference between the pillow cases at a glance because it was so obvious.

One pillow case was made out of an ordinary white cotton cloth which was sewn into a simple bag shape. It could be named as a pillow case only because it contained a pillow inside.
But the other one was quite gorgeous, a piece of smooth white Tetron, made according to the standard form of a pillow case, decorated by a delicately-crocheted white lace sewn into all four edges around.

There was neither a sound nor a sign of human in the room.

In the presence of no witness, a very extra-ordinary event took place.

The simple pillow case was listening to the environment.
No voice of human was heard. Only the birds were singing. Imitating the birds, the simple pillow case tried to speak out something and to his delight, was successful.
So, the simple pillow case started to communicate with other pillow case.
It gave a greeting to the pillow case with the lace.

Mr. Simple: Hello Mr. Lace, what a beautiful morning!
Mr. Lace: You are right, Mr. Simple. This morning is also peaceful.
(Although Mr. Simple’s voice was sharp and nervous, that of Mr. Lace was serious and soft.)

Mr. Simple: So that’s it. Both of us can speak. What a pity we have never tried this out before. Now how great! And we are great too, Mr. Lace.

Mr. Lace: What do you mean by “We are great”, Mr. Simple? But I agree the fact that this is very
wonderful for us to be able to speak to each other.

Mr. Simple: Hmm… we are great because, people use us to rest their heads on. Pillow cases are for human’s heads only, aren’t they? We are in the category of superior class, such as hats, banners, flags etc. I can name out those under-class ones, say, rugs, stockings, pants, skirts, mops etc.

Mr. Lace: Oh… you are discussing about superiority, inferiority, high class, low class, things like that. Please don’t be so proud, Mr. Simple. In fact, the value of life depends on something else, I should say. The value of life doesn’t depend on class and ranks. Wisdom one acquires from life and how much good deeds one could contribute to the world only matter. I am very much older than you, dear friend. I am 11 years old now. In fact, I even know all about the husband and wife of this house and your origin too.

Mr. Simple: (A little bit embarrassed……..) Is that true? How lucky I am to have a conversation with such an old pillow case who knows about almost everything! But those difficult stuff, wisdom, values etc. don’t interest me. I’ll probably think about such thing later. For the time-being, I want to be light-headed and I am curious. Hmm………. So will you please tell me about husband and wife?
